The history

The third ballpark of the name, opened 2006 — red brick and steel arches answering the buildings downtown, with the Arch framed over the outfield wall. Eleven World Series flags fly here, second only to the Yankees, and the retired numbers on Gate 1 run from Ozzie Smith to Stan Musial. The championship years are spelled out on standards above the scoreboard: 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006, 2011. Ballpark Village and Salt + Smoke sit across the plaza, with a vintage Phillips 66 shield up on the roof — the old highway ran through this city and the sign is a nod to it. The bronze of Jack Buck sits inside with a microphone and his hand cupped to his ear. Buck called Cardinals games on KMOX from 1954 until 2001, took the Ford C. Frick Award in 1987, and is the voice behind 'Go crazy, folks!' and 'I don't believe what I just saw!' The statue went up in 1998, four years before he died. On 16 August 2026 the field was a stage: Guns N' Roses on the World Tour 2026 with Public Enemy opening, the pistons-and-skull screen up over the outfield and the World Champions pennants above it.
